Prof Stéphanie Baggio, PhD is a senior epidemiologist.  She joined the BIHAM as the Head of the Statistics and Methodology at the Institute of Primary Health Care (BIHAM) of the University of Bern in 2022. She leads and supervises projects focusing on health inequalities and preventive medicine. She applies a large range of statistical methods to analyze data from medical and psychological studies and has long been working as a statistical consultant. She is also senior researcher at the Division of Prison Health of the Geneva University Hospitals, where she leads projects to improve access to health care and promote rehabilitation for people in detention since 2017.

Prof Stéphanie Baggio completed her PhD in Social Psychology at the University of Paris-Descartes, France, in 2006. She was granted a MCs in Statistics in 2016 and a habilitation in medicine in 2019. She has previously been a post-doc at the Lab of Methodology and Statistics of the University of Geneva, a research fellow at the Alcohol Research Center of the Lausanne University Hospitals, and a post-doc at the Life Course and Inequality Research Center of the University of Lausanne. She has an extensive experience teaching methodology, statistics, and epidemiology.
