Prof. Stéphanie Baggio, PhD, is a senior epidemiologist.  She joined the BIHAM as the Head of the Statistics and Methodology at the Institute of Primary Health Care (BIHAM) of the University of Bern in 2022. She leads and supervises projects focusing on health inequalities and preventive medicine. She uses a wide range of statistical methods to analyse data from medical and psychological studies and has worked as a statistical consultant for many years. She is also a senior researcher at the Laboratory of Population Health (#PopHealthLab) at the University of Fribourg, where her research projects focus on population health epidemiology.

Prof. Stéphanie Baggio obtained her PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Paris-Descartes, France, in 2006. She was awarded an MCs in statistics in 2016 and a habilitation in medicine in 2019. Previously, she was a post-doctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Methodology and Statistics of the University of Geneva, a researcher at the Alcohol Research Centre of the Lausanne University Hospitals, a post-doctoral researcher at the Life Course and Inequality Research Centre of the University of Lausanne, and a senior researcher at the Geneva University Hospitals, where she led projects to improve access to health care and promote rehabilitation for people in prison. She has extensive experience in teaching methodology, statistics and epidemiology.
