Dr. Baretella graduated from the University of Zurich School of Medicine. After finishing his medical doctorate at the University of Zurich, he continued to study the regulation of vascular tone and pursued the topic during his postdoc in vascular biology and pharmacology at The University of Hong Kong. There he focused on endothelium-dependent pathways that regulate vascular disease and inflammation in obesity. Dr. Baretella holds a PhD from The University of Hong Kong. He was awarded consecutive post-doctoral fellowships by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). Dr. Baretella is currently working clinically at Spital Emmental in Burgdorf and has been granted Protected Research Time by the University of Bern, where he is affiliated with Professor Rodondi’s group.
